Meat Pie

There’s nothing quite like the comfort of a meat pie fresh from the oven. The filling is a delicious blend of tender beef, carrots, and thyme, simmered in a rich beef and red wine gravy. Whether served with creamy mashed potatoes or enjoyed on its own, this is comfort food at its best!

First meat pie I've ever made. I loved the deep rich flavour and crisp pastry. The family loved it. I never knew using flour as well as butter made such a difference to stopping the pastry sticking or using a cold filling to stop a soggy bottom!

Adding pulses to meat is a great thing, I use brown lentils with minced beef because they are easier to hide, and my kids aren’t big on chick peas.

Excellent meal. I usually make meat pies individually in a muffin tin but this was so much simpler. These things are newish to me because I’m American but I married a Geordie so I learned real quick that pies aren’t just fruit haha. Very good recipe, as always.
