To serve - I didn’t let this cool enough - that’s why’s the mashed potato is flat - just leave it to cool and settle for 5 mins

Arguably the best shepherds pie I’ve ever had. Just needed more potatoes! But so good!

I have to say that six minutes for prep time is a very serious underestimate, unless you have a sous chef who prepares all your vegetables, dices them, peels the potatoes, chops them, etc! I would say it took me about 20 -30 minutes to prep the vegetables, and then more than a hour to cook the potatoes, cook the meat and vegetables, and then assemble and cook the pie. This recipe is great though. It got a very ethusiastic response from the family, far more enthusiastic than the standard shepherd's pie I have made before.

Not to come across in the wrong way but common sense you will know that prepping is going to take longer then any time he suggests, as people do stuff differently. Same as cooking times ect

Yeah ok, but I don't think anyone is going to achieve six minutes, was my point, no matter how experienced and fast at chopping.

I made this with some ground lamb on a cold, rainy Sunday in Seattle, WA and it was simply perfection, warming us all from the inside out. The egg yolk addition had me wondering at first but I trusted the recipe and the mash topping turned out great. Absolutely no changes needed.

I made this… it’s comfort food at its best! Where did you purchase the cookware that you use frequently to make it in? Love your recipes!

I found i had defrosted pork mince not beef. Swapped the herbs to thyme and sage but other than that stayed to the original. Never put egg yolk in mash before but i will do again. Lovely stuff 😊. I also prepared this morning before work and just popped it in the oven for 40 mins this evening. Nice easy nigjt for me. Served it with mashed swede
